Turn The Rustic Activity Of Grilling Into A Classy One
There’s nothing like having an outdoor barbecue with your buddies or family members – who doesn’t enjoy dressing in a t-shirt and a pair of shorts, knocking back a few beers while you and your friends laugh and joke with each other?
Add instant sophistication to a casual atmosphere with these entertaining and grilling tips guaranteed to impress every guest.
Be Courteous To Your Guests
If you have potential guests who are allergic to certain foods, make sure you have alternatives ready. Don’t get caught unaware. Prepare the meat and vegetables, set the table and have a salad ready before your guests arrive.
Create An Ambiance
When setting up outdoor events, use white dinnerware, as it fits in perfectly with the otherwise casual theme.
Nothing says class more at an event better than flowers – make sure you have some prepared for the event. You don’t need to buy them if you have a garden – just arrange some of your garden flowers in glasses.
Offer a few different bottles of wine at the table for a great conversation starter. Match the wines with the food you are planning to serve, and don’t go for wines that need to be aged after purchase. The best wines are those that can complement the food of choice, but the best choice for us would be Rioja, which is one of the best-known wines out of Spain.
Efficiency Is Key
This isn’t your standard outdoor party, so speeding up the grilling time is important – start by precooking your chicken, beef and other slow-cooking food in the microwave. When grilling the food, you may need more than one temperature, so try setting aside some coals to be mounded on one side for high-temperature cooking, and set aside coals on the opposite side for lower-temperature cooking.
Grill Smart
If you are using skewers to grill, cut the larger pieces into chunks. Foil packets can be used to grill vegetables and fruit, such as onion rings, zucchini, or pineapple rings – this makes cleaning up much easier.
Finally, make sure you have two brushes for the basting process. The green brush would be used for basting raw meat. Continue basting once the meat has began cooking, this time with a red brush. This is a safe and easy way to baste the meat you are cooking.
